Update #1: Co-Op Mode! Voice Acting! Other Stuff!
Heeyyyyyyy! So this is Castle on the Coast’s first update! I wonder if it will be the largest: a great deal of quality of life features were added, Co-op mode has been introduced, and a massive amount of sound effects and voice acting were cut up and plugged in.
Does it warrant another playthrough? PERHAPS. I know I’m enjoying the game much more, and I work on it every day.
VOICE ACTING! (OVER 50% OF IT)
Most of the VO is implemented! Enjoy a large potion of our silly written audibly!

CO-OP MODE (FEATURING SWIRLZ THE FLYING SQUIRREL)
Wanted to play Castle on the Coast with a friend, sibling, or younger player? Now you can! Enable co-op mode from the pause screen and have player 2 control Swirlz the Flying Squirrel, George’s helpful buddy!
Swirlz has a knack for magic and the body of an agile flying squirrel, she can….
- Run around free, or ride on George’s back.
- Become a living parachute for George
- Magically create springy flowers
- Shoot out explosive acorn magic!
- Just throw acorns in general
- Collect flowers, hearts, and star keys!
Be careful with the springy flowers…they get a little... explosive when picked...
QUALITY OF LIFE / ACCESSIBILITY
- Input remapping! Dats a big one.
- Setting to make George invincible! (Won’t save you from bottomless pits… OH NOOOO)
- Camera speed may be adjusted along the X and Y axis.
- Camera passes through many level features now such as crates and pillars.
- Added maps in key locations to help players navigate the castle.
- Camera can now be manually rotated while driving car.
- Sound rebalanced across the whole game. We plan on tweaking this more.

- 2 additional characters have appeared in the forest… Gasp.
- Seagulls have nicer art
- Polished bark UV mapping on trees

BUG FIXING
- Fixed wonkiness using mouse with costume screen
- When starkey goes to door, correct star key is shown
- Forest no longer unloads when walking into a specific corner in the ruins
- George no longer gets stuck when diving under a crevice, then standing up.
- Skipping final portal opening cutscene no longer leaves portal doors closed
- George no longer gets stuck in large stone pillar sinking platforms when they respawn
- George no longer gets sucked into ground while holding onto sinking platforms. AHHH!!!
- George no longer hangs on edges at an angle.
- Game captures mouse at start (Thanks to StevoTVR for feedback)
- Loading barrier between library and stunt park cave works now
- Checkboxes in settings not longer APPEAR checked even if they aren’t when first shown.
NOTE FOR MAC USERS
This update is only available on PC for a bit. Due to COVID I don’t have access to my Mac workstation to spit out a build. Sorry about the delay Mac users!
